I'm concerned about how MUCH the state of WI and others are doing in regard to the control of a legal product, tobacco. Big pharma is nothing but a tax exempt contractor, that hires through grants of enormous amounts of money for tobacco control, organizations like the American Cancer Society, ASH, Tobacco Free Kids, etc., also tax exempt, as Perception Management firms. They are paid to create "truth". Created truth is controllable. PM uses select information involving falsehood and deception. Really smoke and mirrors to get people to believe what they want the "truth" to be. They use deception to influence emotions to an end. The difference between real and perception is like a stick of dynamite and the A-bomb. Wars can be created! Everyone, really, has seen PM in practice, and small business owners are experiencing this with legislation against their Constitutional rights. It requires absolutely no courage to support a popular position, even if completely wrong or illegal. It has never been about health, just profits for big pharma, makers of smoking cessation products! I can't fathom that the citizens and government of this once great nation can so easily fall into this nonsense of the deadliness of second hand smoke, nor the nonsense of taxing the heck out of them will 'save the people'. Same thing with the global warming debacle that taxing us to high heaven will stop something and 'save the planet'! I see on the RWJF (aka big pharma who funds smoking bans) website they are after tobacco, obesity, and alcohol! Buying smoking bans kills two birds with one stone. Shut down bars at the same time with smoking bans! Brilliant marketing scam with big pharma using our own government against business owners. Also going after "obesity". I see now they are banning school bake sales somewhere. The people must stop these socialistic atrocities brought about by special interest before we no longer recognize this nation!

what a joke!! All Jim Doyle did by raising the cigarette tax was put money in his own pocket. He is not running for re-election again because he knows he would lose. Increased taxes do not stop smoking, they just take money from the food budget to buy cigarettes. What's next - taxing people based on their weight because obesity increases healthcare costs?

Our forfathers said that everyone shall be treated fair and equal when it comes to any taxation in this Country. It is illefal and immoral to put such a heavy burden of taxation on cigarette smokers. We are entitled to the pursuit of freedon and our own happiness, all of us. Cigarette smokers in the USA are a minotity and are being treated unfairly and not equal as taxpayers in this Country. Is it to much to ask for when all we want is a fair tax put on cigarettes? Our Government has done this to try to ake all smokers quit smoking. It is nome of our Governments buisness nor anyone else in our free space. If you want an arguement on whats really bad for all of the citizens of this Country, there are many worse things that are so much worse for all of us beyond the cigarette. It is my belief that our population just dont like cigarette smokers and have done nothing to make this outrageous tax go away. Just remember that the next new tax on the public mught be something that affects you personally, good luck with that.
